Assiut and Tie Belly Dance Club is proud to present Kaeshi Chai (NYC) of Bellydance Evolution and Bellyqueen fame in a special night featuring an all-star line-up including Bellydance Kizmet, Azura’s Oasis, Dance Baladi, Underbelly Dance Troupe, Red Earth Ghawazee, Giselle Sibyl, Belly Dance with Trisnasari and Belly Samba duo, Josie and Elena. Kaeshi will share the stage with one-time co-conspirator MC Elf Tranzporter for a memorable performance where Melbourne meets NYC meets the exotic east.
Assiut is a textile named after the city of its origin, Assiut in Egypt. It is characterised by geometric patterns of metal threaded through mesh and gained popularity in the West during the rise of the Art Deco movement.
Assiut and Tie Belly Dance Club is a unique event that resurrects the glamour of the 1920s and its fascination with the exotic east and transports it to Melbourne 2014. Guests arrive in exotic cocktail dress to enjoy a souk, photo booth and captivating show that takes the audience from Egypt to Turkey to NYC and traverses traditional styles of belly dance through to American Tribal Style, Tribal Fusion, Belly Dance Hip Hop and Belly Samba.
The souk and photo booth will be open from 4.30pm in the Spiegeltent (gold coin entry). There is a free workshop for the kids from 5-5.45pm. Join Trisnasari on a Magic Carpet Ride that flies from Turkey to Lebanon to Egypt to the Persian Gulf, sharing fun folk dance and music along the way.
Doors open for the evening entertainment at 7pm. Show starts 7.30pm.
